Description

Strip your bed down to the bare mattress and look at it in daylight. There's a shadow where you sleep — a faint yellow outline in the shape of a person. That's eight years of you, and in eight years that mattress has never been cleaned once. You wash the sheets. Everybody washes the sheets. But sheets are a thin layer of cotton and the moisture goes straight through them into what's underneath. Here's the one rule, and almost everybody breaks it: you cannot wash a mattress. You can only dry it out. Pour water into six inches of packed foam and there's no rinse cycle and no wringing it out — it sits in the middle where no air reaches, and two weeks later you're sleeping on something worse than you started with. This is the whole job in one afternoon. No machine, no professional, nothing you have to go buy. What's covered: - The dust mite claim that isn't true (and why it sold a lot of mattresses) - Why the hot wash on your bedding matters more than anything else you'll do - Vacuuming the seams — where everything actually collects - Baking soda: how much, and why hours instead of minutes - Why sweat, blood and urine all need COLD water, never warm - The peroxide mix for yellow sweat stains - Memory foam — why it needs different handling - Flip or rotate? The rule changed and nobody announced it - The yardstick test that tells you when a mattress is finished - What your grandmother did twice a year, and why it worked - The free morning habit that keeps a mattress dry Your one job this week: strip the bed and look at it in daylight. Then come tell me in the comments how many years you've had that mattress. Just the number. #mattresscleaning #deepcleaning #cleaningtips how to clean a mattress, clean mattress at home, mattress stains, sweat stains on mattress, yellow stains mattress, baking soda mattress, dust mites mattress, deep clean mattress, mattress cleaning without machine, how to remove mattress odor, clean memory foam mattress, should you flip a mattress, pillowtop mattress rotate, when to replace a mattress, mattress care, bedroom cleaning, old fashioned cleaning, cleaning tips for seniors, mattress protector
