Climb from the forested river valleys of Danba into the mountain landscapes of western Sichuan. China’s Panda Avenue winds beside rivers and wooded slopes, revealing deep gorges, distinctive rocks and changing mountain views. On this journey, the road itself is the attraction. Starting on the outskirts of Danba county town, this drive follows National Highway G350 southwest to the Yala Snow Mountain Viewing Platform in Daofu County. We cover 61.4 km in 1 hour 25 minutes, with a recorded elevation range of 1,876–3,529 m. The roughly 1,600 m change in elevation creates a striking contrast between the lower river valley and the higher mountain scenery. This episode explores one scenic section of the Panda Avenue. A key landscape along the way is Donggu Valley, also known as Yak Valley.
