Australia 1986 Cold Case Solved — A Man Named But Never Charged

On the evening of September 1st, 1986, a 36-year-old model walked out of a pub in Paddington, told his friends he had money to collect and would catch them up at Palm Beach. He drove to his solicitor's house and never came out. Six days passed before anyone reported him missing. Twenty-one years later, an excavator operator building a desalination plant at Kurnell stopped his machine because of a bone in the bucket. It took 12 years to identify the 37 bones that came out of that sand, and another 10 to put a name on the man a coroner says put them there. By then he was already dead, serving two life sentences for two other murders, and had spent his final hospital visit telling detectives he had nothing to say.
