Description

In June 1997, a 51-year-old teacher from the Gold Coast sold her house, resigned from her job, changed her name by deed poll, and flew out of Brisbane under a name nobody in her family had ever heard. Six weeks later she quietly came back to Australia and told no one. In October she walked into a bank in Byron Bay and withdrew 80,000 dollars. That was the last time anyone saw her. Two police forces marked her as found without ever laying eyes on her. Her daughter has been searching for 29 years. In 2024 a coroner ruled she is most likely dead, and found that a man with 14 names knows more than he has ever said.
