Australia 1996 Cold Case Solved — Police Knew the Killer From Day One

Some time after midnight on October 2nd, 1996, two men stood beside a green Holden Commodore on the shoulder of a main road north of Brisbane. Nobody outside that car ever saw one of them again. Police knew the car, they knew who owned it, and they named their person of interest within the first weeks. No body was ever found. The file sat still for 24 years while the man they had named got on with his life, married, and raised three daughters in the same corner of Queensland where Greg Thurlow's parents were still waiting. Both parents died before anybody was ever charged. It took a billboard put up on the same road where the car had been seen, targeted at the exact suburb that had been sitting on the answer since 1996, to finally get somebody to pick up the phone.
