Description

A woman lured to what she believed was a meeting with her own attorney. A 10-year-old girl tricked into helping buy a surprise gift for her mother. Two Ohio cases that began with deception—and decades later, one has finally led to criminal charges while the other remains one of the state’s most heartbreaking unsolved mysteries. In today’s episode of Southern Girl Crime Stories, we cover 1 charged case and 1 unsolved true crime case from Ohio. From Aliza Sherman, whose former divorce attorney now stands accused more than 12 years after her murder, to Amy Mihaljevic, the 10-year-old whose killer has remained unidentified for nearly four decades… these are two Ohio cases that continue to haunt investigators and the families still searching for justice. 🔎 Featured Cases: 🕵 Aliza Sherman — Cleveland, Ohio On March 24, 2013, 53-year-old Aliza Sherman arrived outside her attorney’s downtown Cleveland office just one day before her highly contested divorce trial. After waiting outside for nearly an hour and exchanging text messages with her attorney, she was suddenly ambushed by a masked attacker and stabbed 11 times. For years, suspicion centered on her estranged husband, but a renewed cold case investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation changed everything. Investigators ultimately ruled him out and instead focused on Aliza’s own attorney, Gregory Moore. According to prosecutors, Moore allegedly orchestrated the attack after failing to prepare for the upcoming divorce trial and fearing the consequences to his legal career. A grand jury indicted Moore in May 2025 on multiple charges, including aggravated murder. He has pleaded not guilty, and his trial is currently scheduled for September 14, 2026. 🕵 Amy Mihaljevic — Bay Village, Ohio On October 27, 1989, 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic left school to meet a man who had convinced her he needed help buying a surprise gift for her mother’s supposed work promotion. She disappeared from a shopping center parkin
