Description

The Complete Life of Bada Kaji Amar Singh Thapa | The Living Lion of Nepal Who Held the Western Front | Gyankunda Narrator and Host: Kiran Bhandari Bada Kaji Amar Singh Thapa (1751–1816) was one of the greatest military commanders in Nepal's history, the general who carried the Gorkhali flag furthest west, all the way toward the Sutlej, and who defended that vast frontier against overwhelming odds. He is often called the "Living Lion of Nepal." This is his full story. Beginning with an important clarification, because two different men share the name Amar Singh Thapa. This video is about the elder, "Bada Kaji" (or "Budha Kaji") Amar Singh Thapa, NOT the "Sanu Kaji" Amar Singh Thapa who was Bhimsen Thapa's father. From the birth legend and the 1,000-km Nuwakot march, to Amargadhi Fort, the great Kangra campaign and the restraint at the Ambika shrine, the Bushahr–Rampur campaign, Arki as his western headquarters, the real military logic of his defeat (Ramgarh, the cut Bilaspur supply line, the corner at Malaun), the honourable Malaun surrender, his final Sikh-hermit phase, and his death at Gosainkunda, the whole arc is here. Throughout, this video separates documented history from tradition, the self-willed-death claim, the Sikh-conversion phase, and the debated migration of his sons to Lahore are all clearly flagged as tradition or contested points, verified against primary treaty texts and serious historians rather than repeated as unquestioned fact. मुख्य स्रोतहरू / KEY SOURCES (for verification):- • Ludwig F. Stiller, S.J. — "The Rise of the House of Gorkha" • Prem Singh Basnyat — works on Nepal's military history (Bhakti Thapa's age) • Yogi Naraharinath — collected historical documents (Itihas Prakash / Sandhipatra Sangraha) • Baburam Acharya — studies of the unification period and its commanders • Primary treaty text of the Malaun surrender (वि.सं. १८७२ जेठ / 15 May 1815) • Amar Singh Thapa — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amar_Singh_Thapa_(Sanukaji) Where the record is contested (the self-willed-death tradition, the Sikh-hermit phase, the sons' migration to Lahore, Bhakti Thapa's exact age), this video presents the traditional account and the historians' debate rather than asserting one version as settled fact. Disclaimer:- This video is made for educational and historical-awareness purposes. Where the historical record is uncertain or disputed, traditional accounts are clearly labelled as such. Respectful corrections with a credible source are welcome in the comments. #amarsinghthapa #nepalhistory #kangrafort #gorkha #warrior #gyankunda
