Description

📖 Get Bertha's Cleaning Book, every method for the whole house, written down: https://berthacleans.com Go look at your kitchen faucet from the side, with the window behind it. The white spots, the gray ring, the dull film. Now think of your grandmother's kitchen. Plain cement floor, a faucet older than you, nothing from a magazine, and it looked like a rich woman lived there. A home does not look expensive because of what is in it, mija. It looks expensive because of how it is kept. Eleven things, and not one of them costs money, because every one of them is a cleaning job. THE ELEVEN: 1. THE FAUCET (sacarle brillo). Dry it with a towel after the dishes until you see your face. The eye reads a shine as money 2. THE WINDOWS. Wash on a cloudy morning or in the shade so the spray does not dry into streaks, one dry pass, and a rag down the track 3. LIGHT SWITCHES, DOOR EDGES AND KNOBS. The gray cloud of old hand marks, gone once a week with warm water and one drop of dish soap 4. THE BASEBOARDS. The frame of the room. A dirty frame makes the painting look cheap 5. THE GROUT. The eye reads the grid before the tile. Clean rinse water every mop and a brush down the lines once a month 6. CLEAR COUNTERS. Only what earns its place stays out. Empty space is the one thing money buys in a home, and yours is free 7. TOWELS FOLDED IN THIRDS. Both edges even. A folded towel is the whole picture of a hotel 8. THE PRESSED TABLECLOTH (el mantel). Iron it or hang it damp so it dries flat, and leave it on the table 9. SHINING FLOORS. Very little soap, a second bucket to rinse, a dry towel under your foot. The red cement floor that looked rich in a poor house 10. A HOUSE THAT SMELLS LIKE AIR. Windows open on both sides for ten minutes every morning. Perfume only makes a guest wonder what is underneath 11. THE FRONT DOOR AND THE STEP (la banqueta). Swept, wiped, the knob shining. Your visitor decides what kind of house this is before you open the door The same mistake wearing eleven faces: every one is a place somebody told you to buy something, when it only needed a cloth and ten minutes. TWO WARNINGS: vinegar never goes on marble, granite or any natural stone. And a floor finishes dry, not slick, never oil on a floor people walk on in socks. WHO PROFITS: almost every "make your home look expensive" video ends with something to buy. Clean is the luxury, and it is free. Tonight: dry the faucet until it shines, and look at it first thing tomorrow. Tell me in the comments what your mother's house had that looked rich, and your county. I read every one.
