How a Thorny Devil Fools a Snake With a Fake Head

How a Thorny Devil Fools a Snake With a Fake Head link video : https://youtu.be/e3pvzVZu1_E In the red heart of Australia lives a lizard that looks like it was built from thorns. The thorny devil eats nothing but ants, drinks by pulling water through tiny grooves in its skin, and can't outrun anything. So when a mulga snake comes hunting, it plays a trick: it tucks its real head down between its front legs and raises a spiny knob on the back of its neck that looks just like a head. Snakes usually swallow their prey headfirst, so the devil offers the wrong end, then gulps air and swells into a ball of thorns that would be painful to swallow. Later, a burrow, a hopping mouse mother defending her pups, a nest of eggs buried in the sand, and a falcon hunting from above. 00:00 A lizard built from thorns 00:40 Ants only, and water through its skin 01:10 The mulga snake 01:50 The fake head 02:50 Swelling up 03:30 The trick worked 04:10 A burrow that's already taken 05:10 The hopping mouse 06:30 Digging a nest 07:00 The eggs 08:10 The falcon 09:00 Freeze #thornydevil #lizard #wildlife #naturedocumentary #australia
