Description

The Complete Life of B.P. Koirala | Nepal's First Elected Prime Minister and a Great Writer | Gyankunda Vishweshwar Prasad Koirala, B.P. Koirala - was Nepal's first democratically elected Prime Minister and, at the same time, one of the greatest writers the Nepali language has ever produced. Few people in history left so deep a mark on two entirely different fields. This is his full story: Born in exile in Banaras into a family that would give Nepal three Prime Ministers; his education and legal career in India; his years inside the Indian freedom movement and his imprisonments, including the World War II internment at Dhanbad; the founding of the Nepali National Congress and the Biratnagar labour movement; his role in the 2007 B.S. revolution and as Home Minister in the first post-Rana coalition; the landmark 1959 election that made him Prime Minister with 74 of 109 seats; his 18-month reformist government and its foreign policy, including his China visit and meeting with Zhou Enlai; the 2017 B.S. royal takeover and his eight years in Sundarijal prison; exile and his doctrine of National Reconciliation; the 2036–2037 B.S. student movement and referendum; and his final years, all alongside his towering literary work as the founder of psychological realism in Nepali fiction. Throughout, this video separates documented fact from interpretation and from reported anecdote, the Gandhi garlanding story, the "dog's death abroad" exchange with Ganesh Man Singh, and the details of his final illness are clearly flagged as accounts, so you get an honest, evidence-based portrait, with balanced treatment of the contested episodes (the 1973 aircraft hijacking, his ties to India, and his stance toward the monarchy). मुख्य स्रोतहरू / KEY SOURCES (for verification) • B.P. Koirala — "Atmabrittanta" and "Jail Journal" (primary autobiographical sources) • B.P. Koirala Memorial Trust: https://bpkoiralatrust.org.np • B. P. Koirala — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._P._Koirala • 1959 Nepalese general election — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1959_Nepalese_general_election • Nepal–China Boundary Agreement & Treaty of Peace and Friendship (1960/1961) — Kantipur / Nepali Wikipedia • 2036–2037 B.S. student movement & referendum — Kantipur, OnlineKhabar, Ratopati • 1973 aircraft hijacking (Jestha 28, 2030 B.S.) — Annapurna Post, Ratopati, OnlineKhabar • Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs: https://mofa.gov.np • Last days of B.P. Koirala: https://nepalitimes.com/last-days-with-bp-koirala Where sources genuinely disagree (the exact nature of his final illness, the organisational responsibility for the 1973 hijacking, the fairness of the 2037 referendum), this video presents the differing views rather than picking one as settled fact. Disclaimer: This video is made for educational and historical-awareness purposes. Where the record is uncertain or disputed, accounts and interpretations are clearly labelled as such. Respectful corrections with a credible source are welcome in the comments. #bpkoirala #nepalicongress #democracy #nepalhistory #gyankunda
