New 2027 BYD Shark PHEV – Powerful Hybrid Pickup Truck!

The 2027 BYD Shark is set to become an important new competitor in the UK pickup truck market, challenging established models such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. BYD has confirmed the arrival of its first pickup in the British market, bringing advanced plug-in hybrid technology, impressive performance and modern equipment to the segment. The model made its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026. Exterior Design and Dimensions The BYD Shark features a muscular exterior design with a bold front grille, distinctive LED lighting, wide wheel arches and a rugged body profile. Measuring 5,457 mm long, 1,971 mm wide and 1,925 mm tall, the pickup offers a spacious double-cab configuration with seating for five occupants. Its 3,260 mm wheelbase provides room for passengers, while the rear cargo bed offers 1,200 litres of volume according to UK specifications. Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain The 2027 BYD Shark uses the company's DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) plug-in hybrid system. It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors and a 32.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate Blade battery. The combined system produces 436 PS and 650 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds. The pickup features intelligent all-wheel drive and offers an electric-only driving range of up to 55 miles under WLTP testing. Its combined petrol and electric driving range reaches approximately 419 miles. The maximum braked towing capacity is 2,500 kg, making it suitable for work and recreational activities. Interior and Technology Inside, the Shark features a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, heated and ventilated front seats, and a head-up display. Wireless smartphone connectivity and advanced driver-assistance systems further enhance convenience and safety. Its vehicle-to-load function can supply power to external electrical equipment. UK Price and Availability The BYD Shark is priced from £47,290, including VAT, according to BYD UK's published launch information. Orders are open, with deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
