New 2027 Mitsubishi ASX VR-e - Stylish Compact Hatchback

The 2027 Mitsubishi ASX VR-e is an upcoming all-electric compact hatchback that combines modern styling, advanced technology and impressive performance. Developed in partnership with Taiwanese electric vehicle manufacturer Foxtron and Italian design house Pininfarina, the new SUV marks Mitsubishi’s return to the battery-electric vehicle market. It is scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms in late 2026, while New Zealand deliveries are expected to begin in December 2026. The Mitsubishi ASX VR-e features a sporty exterior with distinctive LED headlights, aerodynamic bodywork, flush door handles and a sculpted front design. It measures 4,315 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width and 1,535 mm in height, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose from multiple variants, including LS, Aspire, Exceed and the range-topping GSR. The new ASX VR-e uses a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The LS, Aspire and Exceed variants feature a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 171 kW and 350 Nm of torque. These models can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 6.8 seconds. The flagship GSR features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined 342 kW and 700 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. According to Mitsubishi New Zealand, the claimed WLTP driving range reaches 403 km for the LS, 398 km for the XLS and 380 km for the Exceed. The GSR offers up to 328 km. DC fast charging supports up to 134 kW, with a claimed 10–80% charging time of approximately 30 minutes under suitable conditions. Inside, the SUV features a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 9.2-inch digital instrument display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air software updates. Higher variants add heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof, a premium audio system and advanced parking assistance. In New Zealand, prices start at NZ$57,990 before on-road costs, reaching NZ$72,990 for the GSR AWD.
