When he drove out there the zipper was open from the inside and the seat was warm in thirty-four degree air. That night the app pushed him an alert: a photograph of his own truck, taken from behind, parked in his own driveway eleven miles away. Account 2 — Three men in an elk camp on an Oregon rim pulled a thermal card and counted four heat signatures around a dead fire. The fourth was standing. On the next frame it was inside the stones, and on the one after that it was between two cots and one of the men was missing from the image. His cot had been dragged four feet toward the trees with him asleep in it, and the leg grooves stopped three feet short of the treeline. The following night the radio transmitted in one man's voice while that man stood three feet away with his mouth shut. Account 3 — A solo turkey hunter found her trail camera inside her tent, sitting on the groundsheet by her feet. The steel security cable was still locked around the tree, unbroken. The card holds six photographs in order — hands carrying the housing, her vestibule, and her own sleeping face from eighteen inches. There was heavy dew and no prints anywhere around the tent.
