Description

Concrete median barriers slope out at the bottom. When a car brushes the wall, its tire climbs that slope instead of the doors grinding along the concrete, and the car gets steered back into its lane. On the older New Jersey shape the bend sits 13 inches up, and a small car hitting fast at a sharper angle can climb too high and roll over. The F-shape moved the bend down to 10 inches, so the tire climbs less and small cars are less likely to roll. This is a 3D illustration, partly in slow motion. The cars are empty, and the crashes are simplified. #Shorts #RoadSafety #Engineering
