Description

On a Thursday night in April 1993, a man walked into a stationery shop in suburban Adelaide at closing time and stabbed a 36-year-old woman 18 times while her husband and two children waited for her at home. He cut himself during the attack and left his blood on the floor beside hers. That blood sat in storage for 24 years without a database match because he had never once been arrested for anything. It took a familial DNA search, a brother who had been caught for something unrelated, and two detectives sitting in a car in regional Victoria waiting for a man to finish his coffee and throw the cup away to finally close it.
