Description

DIGGER might be the most divisive movie of 2026. Alejandro González Iñárritu teams up with Tom Cruise for one of the strangest big-budget studio movies I’ve seen in a while. Based on the trailers, I expected an over-the-top political satire about a Texas oil billionaire accidentally creating an environmental catastrophe. And for about 30 minutes, that’s exactly what the movie is. Then everything changes. In this spoiler-filled review, I talk about the massive twist the marketing completely hid, Tom Cruise stepping outside his usual action-hero persona, Riz Ahmed stealing the movie, Emmanuel Lubezki’s cinematography, and why Iñárritu’s ambitious ideas eventually started to lose me. Is DIGGER an ambitious must-see, a complete disaster, or something somewhere in between? If you’ve seen the movie, please share your thoughts in the comments, and thank you for watching! ⚠️ FULL SPOILERS for DIGGER. #Digger #TomCruise #AlejandroGonzalezInarritu #MovieReview #FilmReview #Cinema #Movies2026
