Description

Jessica Chastain chews the scenery in OTHER MOMMY (2026), the latest jump-scare horror movie from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) and based on Josh Malerman's novel Incidents Around the House, the movie follows a young girl who develops a disturbing relationship with a mysterious entity that looks exactly like her mother. I went into this expecting an absolute disaster, but what I got was something arguably more frustrating: a horror movie with genuinely interesting ideas, unexpected story developments, and a committed performance from Jessica Chastain that somehow manages to waste almost all of its potential. In this review, I discuss the film's ineffective scares, bizarre character decisions, inconsistent supernatural mythology, questionable CGI, and why its attempts at family drama never really work. Is Other Mommy actually a terrible movie, or just an incredibly disappointing one? Let me know what you thought of the movie in the comments!
