Description
Esther Arunga was once one of Kenya’s most promising young lawyers and television journalists, with a successful career, a growing public profile, and a future that seemed almost limitless. But after meeting Quincy Timberlake, her life began to change in ways that would eventually take her away from her career, her family, and the people closest to her.
Quincy presented himself as a wealthy and influential man with powerful international connections, but behind that image was a web of deception that would help him gain Esther’s trust and isolate her from the people who tried to warn her. From the collapse of her engagement and her relationship with Pastor Joseph Hellon, to her decision to leave Kenya and start a new life in Australia, the relationship became increasingly difficult for those around her to understand.
Then, in 2014, tragedy struck. Their three-year-old son, Sinclair Timberlake, died in Australia after being violently attacked by his father, who had become convinced that the child was possessed by evil spirits. What followed raised even more disturbing questions when Esther initially protected Quincy and gave investigators a false explanation for her son’s death.
In this Kenyan true crime documentary, we examine the rise of Esther Arunga, the deception surrounding Quincy Timberlake, their controversial relationship, their move from Kenya to Australia, and the tragic events that ultimately destroyed their family.
This is the story of Esther Arunga and Quincy Timberlake — and the con that changed everything.
