Description
At just 23 years old, University of Nairobi student Jeffrey Sila Ndungi walked into Wilson Airport carrying a bag full of cash and purchased two aircraft.
To many, he appeared to be a wealthy young entrepreneur living an extraordinary life. He drove luxury vehicles, lived comfortably in Nairobi, and seemed far ahead of his peers. But investigators would eventually uncover a very different story.
This documentary follows the rise and fall of a Kenyan family-linked criminal network that stretched from Nairobi to the United States. Beginning with a tax fraud operation targeting elderly Americans, the scheme evolved through identity theft, fraudulent tax refunds, digital piracy, and sophisticated Business Email Compromise scams that allegedly stole millions of dollars from government institutions.
From nursing homes in Kansas and California to cyber cafés in Nairobi, this is the story of how one family built a transnational fraud empire that survived arrests, FBI investigations, and international manhunts before finally collapsing.
How did a university student afford to buy airplanes?
Where did the millions come from?
And how did the FBI eventually connect the dots?
This is the unbelievable true story of Jeffrey Sila Ndungi.
