Australia 1987 Cold Case Solved - Arrest Shocks Community

On the morning of July 7th, 1987, a 2-year-old girl was beaten to death by her mother over the state of a garden path at a religious commune in the New South Wales tablelands. Nobody called an ambulance. Nobody called police. Her body was burned in a drum with wood, old clothes, and motor oil, and her ashes were scattered on the property. The man who ran the commune sifted them through a metal sieve to make sure nothing remained. Her father spent the next 32 years believing she was alive somewhere with another family, winning custody orders in court for a daughter who no longer had a body. Not one person on that property said a word until a former member walked into a police station in 2019.
