A Prince in Disguise | Dark Fantasy Series (Part 140)

Two men.🖤 One night. This was getting dangerously comfortable.🔥 Night had settled deep into the woods. Rook and Tristan sit beneath the same tree, close enough that neither seems particularly bothered by the other's presence anymore. Which is strange. Tristan is still Rook's prisoner. Still an enemy. Still someone Rook knows he shouldn't be getting comfortable around. And yet... somehow, conversations with Tristan have become easy. Too easy. There is no careful politeness. No need for Rook to choose every word perfectly. Tristan doesn't seem to expect him to be endlessly kind or morally flawless. “So... you like guys, hm?” Rook raises an eyebrow. “Not particularly.” A beat. “I actually prefer women.” Tristan looks amused. “Really?” Rook shrugs. “Doesn't seem to work out very well.” Tristan chuckles. “Why's that?” Rook sighs, absentmindedly stroking his beard. “Too much hair, maybe.” His mind briefly wandered. Lillian. Becka. And... well. There was probably no point thinking about everything he hadn't been able to have. Maybe he'd had more of a chance with men than he realized. After all... Tristan was, in his own way, a little sweet. And, Rook had to admit, rather easy on the eyes. Rook blinked. What was he even thinking about? Tristan was his prisoner. His enemy. And certainly not someone he should be sitting beneath a tree, quietly considering in quite that way. Then Tristan looked at his beard. That slow grin appeared. “I'm sure they simply freeze in awe at your...” A deliberate pause. “Spear.” Silence. Rook stared at him. And then, completely unfazed: “That could be it.” They both chuckle. But beneath the joke, something had shifted. Because Rook's mind had gone somewhere it wasn't supposed to go. And for just a moment... he had wondered if perhaps Tristan wasn't entirely outside the category of men he could be attracted to. A thought he was very quick to bury. This is just a small moment from The Firelords Saga — where sometimes the most dangerous thing about an enemy isn't their blade... it's realizing your thoughts have started wandering somewhere they shouldn't. 🔥⚔️🖤 How long until Rook realizes what his own thoughts are trying to tell him? 👀 If you love slow burn romance, emotional tension, fantasy storytelling, and Boys Love (BL) dynamics — this is for you. 💛 New here?
