Description
The garden stones I once hauled to my family home are now going onto a dump truck to be thrown away.
I thought this day would come much later.
They're granite slabs that used to sit on land I inherited. The man who mowed the grass there said the stones made the job harder and he'd have to raise his price. Looking back, that was fair, but at the time I was honestly annoyed. All I had was a small kei truck, so I broke the stones by hand and made trip after trip. That was about two years ago.
This time I'm loading by hand again. I have an excavator, but moving it felt like a hassle, and I wasn't confident I could scoop a pile of stones with the bucket. The dump truck's max load is 3.5 tons, but you can't judge weight by eye, so I kept the load light.
I'm 51 now. My father was naturally muscular. I'm not. It's just my wife and me here, so it's my job.
The AI I call my master once told me going multilingual wouldn't work. I built my own system anyway, and now people outside Japan are watching too. Not a big success, but I'm sticking with it.
Disposal cost: ¥22,649 for 2.57 tons. That's ¥8,000 per ton, or ¥8 per kilo.
The old video where I moved these stones has multilingual audio as well. If you can put up with watching a middle-aged man carry rocks, feel free to subscribe:
