She spends her days shaping clay in her studio and her evenings helping her boy with his homework, and when a jury summons lands in her mailbox, she treats it like any other duty. But this is no ordinary trial. She has been chosen to help decide the fate of one of the most powerful mob bosses in the country. On the night the trial begins, a charming stranger steps into her life. He is warm, well-dressed, and seems to understand her better than anyone ever has. But the charm is a mask. He is the mob's most dangerous weapon, a man who calls himself the Teacher, and he has come with a simple message: the verdict will be not guilty, or her son will not live to see another morning. Cornered and terrified, Annie does the only thing a mother can do. She delivers the verdict he wants. But walking away was never part of his plan. The man who threatened her does not disappear when the trial ends. He stays close, watching her every move, reminding her that he owns her now. Desperate to protect her boy, Annie sends him far away and tries to vanish into silence, praying the nightmare is finally over. It is not. The predator who thought he had broken her is about to follow her to the ends of the earth. He mistook a quiet mother's fear for weakness, and that mistake is about to cost him everything. In a tense, gripping thriller about how far a mother will go to protect her child, the woman everyone underestimated becomes the one thing he never saw coming. ___________________________________________________________________________ Hey!
