Her days are long, her money is running out, and the one thing that still breaks her heart is her daughter Claire, a troubled young woman lost to addiction who only ever comes home when she needs something, and who keeps dragging a dangerous man named Jackie back onto the farm with her. Then one night Claire pounds on the door, hysterical and shaking, covered in blood that is not her own. In that moment Kate has to make a choice no mother should ever face, and once she makes it, there is no going back. She hides the truth, buries the nightmare, and prays it is over. But it is only beginning. A calm, smiling stranger comes knocking, a man who knows exactly what happened that night and who uses it to twist the knife deeper and deeper. As his threats close in on everything she has left, the quiet, grieving mother everyone underestimated is pushed past her breaking point, and she proves there is nothing on this earth more dangerous than a mother with nothing left to lose. In a tense, devastating thriller about grief, love, and the terrible things a parent will do for their child, Kate learns that protecting the people we love can cost us the last piece of ourselves. ___________________________________________________________________________ Hey!
