Description
This one root has been nagging at me for years. Today I put an end to it.
About three years ago I tried to dig out a tree stump and failed miserably. I left it there, but it always bugged me, since leftover roots can apparently invite termites, and this one sat right next to the house. The excavator can't really get in close, so I figured I'd just cut down the whole tree while I was at it. A chainsaw really is a beast. Honestly the excavator is just an expensive toy, and the annual inspection alone on the dump truck that hauls it runs me around 400,000 yen. If I used it for work it'd pay for itself, but I only run it a few dozen times a year. Still, hiring a contractor easily costs 500,000 yen per job. Anyway, I finally reached the root that beat me back then. One pull and it came right out, like a scab peeling off. Turns out three years ago I'd only been a little short, and I'd given up. Work on this plot is done now, and the weight is finally off my mind.
