Description

US tourism is still taking a hit, and some of the numbers coming out of Washington DC are getting pretty ugly. One Washington DC tour operator says bookings are down around 50%, another reported revenue down 70% during July and August, and another says international customers are down more than 50%. Canadian corporate and school groups that normally visit Washington have apparently dried up as well. Meanwhile, Vermont is heading into its fall foliage season and Burlington tourism officials are once again expecting fewer Canadians. They point to tensions between Canada and the United States, but as I talk about in this video, this goes way beyond tariffs. Canadians have spent nearly two years hearing 51st state rhetoric, annexation threats and insults directed at our country. For a lot of us, the Canada US relationship has changed, and going back to the United States for a vacation just isn't something we're interested in doing. Even after the World Cup brought millions of visitors into the country, the US tourism decline continues. Canadians avoiding US travel are only part of the problem, with travellers from countries including Germany and France also reportedly staying away. ----------------------------------- How To Support The Guard The Leaf Channel Buy Me A Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/guardtheleaf Guard The Leaf Substack https://guardtheleaf.substack.com/ ----------------------------------- e-7531 (Foreign affairs) https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-7531 Even with the World Cup success, travel to the U.S. is DOWN this year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8FKKufMoQo Burlington tourism experts expecting fewer Canadian leaf peepers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__35kCfm0A8 DC tourism in the toilet due to Trump anger: 'People just aren’t coming' https://www.rawstory.com/trump-tanks-dc-tourism/ GTL Community Photo Map https://google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1RY_LT1cX8-QSl8LpEoCHhj1MgPjexgk&usp=sharing Proton Email Referral Link https://pr.tn/ref/4Z7GCXPE Guard The Leaf Social Links: Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/guardtheleaf.bsky.social Substack: https://guardtheleaf.substack.com/ Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GuardTheLeaf/ Hey.Cafe: https://hey.cafe/r/guardtheleaf Discord: https://discord.gg/MuCCQnUQ7u 00:00 Intro 03:36 51% Of Canadians Will Avoid The US 08:22 Vermont Leaf Peeping Starts With No Canadians 14:05 DC Tour Groups Down Over 50% In Revenue 17:47 GTL Community Photo
