Description

Born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1956, Harley Allen learned close-harmony singing on the road with his father, bluegrass patriarch Red Allen, and formed the Allen Brothers with his siblings before moving to Nashville to write songs. After Linda Ronstadt recorded his composition High Sierra for both the 1994 Trio II sessions and her 1995 album Feels Like Home, Allen became one of Music Row's most sought-after traditional songwriters, penning chart-topping country hits for Alan Jackson, Blake Shelton, and Gary Allan. Source: Harley Allen's songwriting credits and biography are documented by BMI, the International Bluegrass Music Museum, and Asylum Records' Trio II liner notes.
