We Didn't Expect to Love This Much Work in Our 50s Living in our 50s has surprised us in a lot of ways. We never expected that one of the things we’d come to love so much would be helping maintain the miles of trails that run through our community. It’s hard work. It’s volunteer work. And sometimes it means spending a weekend cutting brush, clearing trees and hauling limbs. But somewhere along the way, it became more than trail work. We found a community of people who care about the land, the horses, the trails and each other — and we’re genuinely grateful to be part of it. Maybe that’s one of the best parts of getting older: finding the people and places that make life feel meaningful.
