Description
Three years after inheriting this land, I finally decided to remove one of the biggest eyesores—a huge concrete drainage pipe.
I originally hired a contractor to clean up the property, but they suddenly stopped responding before the job was finished. In the end, I had no choice but to cut the pipe in half myself, even though I had no professional experience.
Today, my goal was simple: load one half onto my dump truck with a 2-ton excavator and haul it to a disposal facility.
It wasn't as easy as I expected.
The pipe was too heavy to lift properly, it kept sliding, and my excavator wasn't really designed for delicate lifting work. I was also worried about damaging the dump truck. But hiring another contractor wasn't an option anymore, so I kept pushing until it finally went in.
Buying the excavator and dump truck cost me about ¥1.4 million (around US$9,000). Hiring someone to remove just this pipe might have cost only about ¥100,000, but this inherited property is filled with things that need to be cleared. Looking at the whole project, doing it myself made more sense.
The video is played at 2× speed. At normal speed, it would mostly be me slowly operating the excavator.
