Description

On the afternoon of February 1st, 1989, a property manager in Everett, Washington opened a door at the back of his rental house and found a 33-year-old woman dead in her room. She had been placed in transitional housing three weeks earlier. The killer had braided three items together into a cord and left his blood on it. No lab in 1989 could read it. The case stayed open for 36 years while detectives focused on the wrong men, and the real killer moved two states away and lived an ordinary life with no criminal record. A beer bottle left on a restaurant table in Las Vegas finally gave the blood a name.
