Description

Most people read Revelation 11 asking one question: who are the two witnesses? That is the wrong question — and the images the chapter uses tell you exactly what it is really pointing at. In this study we trace every picture Revelation attaches to the two witnesses and follow it back to its source. We start with the scene most readers rush past: two bodies left unburied in the street of the great city for three and a half days, while the whole world celebrates and sends gifts to one another. Then we go back five hundred years to Zechariah chapter four, where the two olive trees and the golden lampstand first appear as the "two sons of oil" — the Hebrew phrase your English Bible softens into "the two anointed ones" — with the oil standing for the Spirit of God. We look at how Revelation chapter one already defined a lampstand for us as a witnessing church, and how the Greek word martys, the root of our word martyr, means someone who testifies, not simply someone who dies. Then we read the powers of the two witnesses and find they are the signs of Moses and Elijah braided together — water turned to blood, plagues, and a shut sky that holds back the rain for three and a half years, the exact length of Elijah's drought. Moses and Elijah, the Law and the Prophets: the whole witness of Scripture. We line up the twelve hundred and sixty days, the forty-two months, and the "time, times, and half a time" from Daniel and Revelation and show they are one span. We give the strongest case for the literal reading — Enoch and Elijah, argued by Hippolytus around the year two hundred — and weigh it honestly against the text. The central claim: the two witnesses are the testimony of God's own Word, and the whole chapter is the answer to one fear — that the world could finally silence it. It cannot. KEY VERSE "And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet." — Revelation 11:11 In the scene where the two lie dead and the world exchanges gifts, and then they stand up in the middle of the party — which moment hit you the hardest, the bodies in the street or the breath coming back? Tell me below. If this opened up Revelation 11 for you, hit LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and turn on the bell, and SHARE it with someone still wondering who the two witnesses are. We are walking through Daniel and Revelation one piece at a time. God bless you. #Revelation #BibleProphecy #TwoWitnesses #BibleStudy
